Yesterday we saw QUEEN at the Chase Center in San Francisco. What an amazing show! We've known Adam Lambert, who has been singing with QUEEN for 10 years now, for a long time. In 2009, he was a finalist on American Idol, when we were still voting for our favorite singers. He was our favorite, but alas, he didn't win then. But at least QUEEN noticed him them.
The band has a difficult task. On the one hand, Adam is a deserving leader and this must be clearly demonstrated. On the other hand, they must pay tribute to the memory of Freddie Mercury. They found a good balance. Mercury's face appeared on the screen a couple of times, including a video of him singing. Adam himself declared that every time he goes on stage, Freddie is in his heart. But otherwise, Adam, Brian May and Roger Taylor were in the spotlight almost all the time. Well done, with taste.
By the way, most non-English speaking people completely misunderstand the meaning of the song We will rock you. This is not a victory march at all, but quite the opposite. The song traces the fate of a noisy braggart through three ages - childhood, youth and old age. At all stages, he appears as a loser and a bully who loudly proclaims that he will still succeed. The song is a satire of jingoism and conformity
Nikolai filmed the video and sang along.
